Posted by Ron Goyette
Another May Day Parade has been completed successfully. Captain Greg Archibald looked after the details this year. It started with invitations being sent to prospective participants. Completed applications were then received and documented. The website at rotarymay day.ca was updated with current information. Meetings with the city began last November and progressed monthly to make sure all the tasks were completed on time. Emails, phone calls, faxes, were coming in and were handled keeping the participants happy. Parade day came faster than expected - as usual.
On parade day, Gerry had organized the street crews to handle the placement of participants on their allocated streets.Bob & Greg attended the Mayor's breakfast representing the club. The parade started at 10:40 with the Vancouver Police M/C Drill Team leading off. 25 minutes later at 11:05, the balance of the parade strated. Everything went as planned and it was a wonderful day under a full sun. There wer about 100 entries in the parade. After afull day, Cathy came back pink from the sun. Our thanks to Greg and his sidekick for their work.
