January 25th, 2007 CROSSROADS HOSPICE VISITS

We were fortunate to have Crossroads Hospice visit us today. Barb Henham, Executive Director, Andrea Hlady, Development Officer, and Dawn McDonald, a Volunteer and board member with Crossroads Hospice.

Barb thanked Rotary for the work this club has done to support Crossroads Hospice - The Walk For Hospice, that raised $37,000 last year and involved the three rotary clubs in the Tri-City area and talked about the many other programs that have assisted those in need in this area.

Andrea Hlady told us of the "Joy of Stress" lecture to be given by Ted Kuntz at the Hospice and recommended attendance. She also told us about the Thrift Store as a success story.

Dawn McDonald told us what it is like to be a volunteer at Hospice. Rather than it being an emotional downturn, she related that it was a wonderful experience, that the place has a "Spirit", a feeling of well being,. She said, "I'm not the same person I was before I started volunteering for Hospice".
