Installation of “The Big Cheese!”
At the Poco Inn and Suites on June 20th, all the tables were
adorned with mice and cheese platters.
The night was all about crowning our next most important person--Our
BIG CHEESE-- RUSSELL MCMURCHIE. (The meaning of BIG Cheese as defined in a
dictionary of the 19th century stands for anything good, first rate quality,
genuine, pleasant or advantageous.)
Ron Goyette was the Master of Ceremonies. Ron was able to keep the
crowd lively with his wit and jokes.
After our usual meeting opening, Darrell Burnham our Asst District
Governor gave the Toast to Rotary. Ron and Angela then presented Russell with a
necklace of mice, a hat with Big Cheese and a basket of cheesy things.
After the buffet dinner Darrell installed Russ McMurchie as the new Big
Cheese(or President but he will be forever known as the Big Cheese) & New
Board.
"The Big Cheese stood alone." Now we cannot let the Cheese stand alone.
So all those elected to officers positions joined the big cheese. We look
forward to having a most advantageous year.
Next Gene Vickers( District Membership Extension Chair) said a few
inspirational words and presented pins. Recognition was given for 100%
attendance (Or as I call it there is nothing better to do or worth doing than
attend rotary meetings weekly ).
Bob Frew our past president gave the Awards to outstanding members.
Peter Delapa and Ron Goyette were given service awards for their selfless
dedication. This year's Paul Harris Awards recipients were Carol Metz Murray
and Angela Andersen.
Dave (3 Ring) Binder updated us on the club accomplishments. What a
long list. Finally the Big Cheese gave his president's Speech and shared his
vision for the club for 2010/2011.
