Exploring Chinese Culture
The Members present at our club meeting on Thursday, November 7, 2013 were treated to an interesting speech by Ms. Vera Sun on the history of China and its culture. Vera took us on a trip through the history of China and its rich culture dating back to more than 5000 years.
The Rotary Club of Port Coquitlam Centennial thanks Vera for a very thought provoking speech and helping we Rotarians learn about China in our efforts to grow towards better international understanding.
Vera Sun (M.Ed.) was educated in both the Republic of China and the U.S. She was a consultant to the Ministry of Education, Republic of China, and also a consultant for the “Globalization Awareness Program” with Kepler Associates Ltd. in Inverness, Illinois. She has also held other positions in the U.S., including as faculty member of Foster McGaw Graduate School at the National College of Education in Chicago.
Since 1992, Vera has undertaken extensive travel and study in China, Mexico (Mayan civilization), Peru (Inca civilization), Egypt, and Europe. In recent years, Vera has been involved in projects fostering traditional Chinese culture and classical arts.
Currently, Vera is the Director of Community Outreach for New Tang Dynasty Television in Vancouver ( Headquartered in New York, NTD is the world's largest independent Chinese TV network). She is also a member of the advisory board of NTD's Greater Vancouver Culture & Events Committee.
