Carol Metz Murray, a Management Consultant, talked about her life and times: Carol was born and raised on a farm in southern Saskatchewan. She gained all of her education i.e. undergraduate and graduate degrees while working full time . She has lived in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon and BC. She said:
- I took on management roles at the early age of 19 and managed a law office, feedlot and local government as well as starting and operating four businesses. I started my management consulting practise in 1995 after receiving fully one of life's lessons . I was selected to go to Russia and the Ukraine after the fall of the USSR to assist local goverments to build tax regimes
In the Yukon I learned the true meaning of "politics" and got to work with the world's colourful 5% - more . . . . . .
- two siblings - brother and sister - lost my brother two years ago
- I have ten nieces and nephews
- I have four children - three sons, one daughter, seven grandchildren ranging from age 18 years to 4 months
- my mother who is 91 years young still lives on her own in the town where she grew up as a child
- I love being in nature whether it is hiking or kayaking or even whitewater rafting
- I love doing risky things and being adventurous like holding a pole dancing party or white water rafting on the Yukon rivers or doing a two week leadership canoe course on white water rivers in the Yukon (the qualifier for this was never having canoed before
- I loved to race cars several years ago to find out how fast they could go
- I really appreciated growing up on the Canadian prarieis and especially the winters. My first winter in the Yukon I experienced -65. It was cold
I am blessed for the many life experiences that I have had.
We are very pleased to have Carol as one of our Rotarian members.
