The Rotary Time Capsule was buried in 1976 under the sidewalk on the northeast corner of Railroad Avenue and Main Street. A large concrete slab covering the capsule is visible there and has the following inscription: "Rotary Club of Sayville, NY Time Capsule. Buried 7/5/76. Reburied 11/25/86. Moved Because of Road Widening. To be Opened 2076." The capsule contains local ephemera and other articles gathered in 1976.
