Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds from the LI Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse gave some chilling details about the heroine epidemic in our area. Dr. Reynolds ponted out that high school kids can acquire heroine easier than beer.It costs $5 a bag and students feed their habit by selling it to others.More often than not parents are frustrated by the lack of rehab support available and the drug problem continues to escalate. Mike Mostow pointed out that 70% of his dismissal hearings are marijuna related. Dr. Reynolds indicated the sequence of abuse among kids usually follows the path of beer, vodka, marijuna then the highly addictive heroine. He cautions parents not to allow underage drinking in their homes believing it's safer then drinking elsewhere.Drinking anywhere at a young age places the kids in a vulnerable situation.
