Ahoy Fellow Rotarians! Join us on Saturday, July 29th (with a rain date of Sunday, July 30th ) for our very first RAFT-UP Fun in the Sun Day. We plan to meet just a tad west of Sailor’s Haven on Fire Island (bayside) in which we could all raft-up or anchor off of the boardwalk entrance to Sunken Forest. This event is a Rotarian Family & Friends affair, so, the more the merrier! There’s beach access, facilities that are not too far and a beautiful location to just sit on the boats, splash in the water and have some relaxation & fun.You could join the festivities on your own timeline-anytime from 11am –on… Bring friends, refreshments and be ready to have splashes of fun in the sun. Paumanok Veterinary Hospital, P.C., cordially invites our community members to our "Sunset Soiree" on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 4 to 6 pm under the tent at 639 Route 112, Patchogue NY 11772 - in celebration our hospital's silver anniversary- providing 25 years of service to the community and the NEW formation of the Paumanok Community Foundation, 501(c)3. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit two not for profit organizations: Patchogue Rotary Animal Assisted Therapy Program (PRAAT) and the Friends of the Fire Island National Seashore (FFINS). On August 9th at 12:15 pm we will be meeting at The Oar Steak & Seafood Grill. Our presenters will be Fran Kosiczky, the coordinator of the soup kitchen at St. Francis, and Ann McGuire. They will give an overview of what the soup kitchen does and who they service. In addition, they will talk about ways that service groups can help them meet some of our greatest needs in providing for our guests. Fellow Rotarian, Nancy Farrell suggested our August 9th speaker. On August 16th at 12:15 pm we will be meeting at The Oar Steak & Seafood Grill. Our presenter will be Jennifer Nicholson, Director of Strategic Initiatives, Ronald McDonald House of Long Island (Ronald McDonald Family Room at Stony Brook). Jennifer will be speaking about the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, a home away from home for families of seriously ill children and our expansion into Suffolk county which started in 2013 when we opened our first Ronald McDonald Family Room on Long Island at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. They are serving over 3,500 families a year in the Suffolk county area and are looking to build a Ronald McDonald House in Stony Brook in the near future. “The mission of the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is to keep families with sick children close to each other and the care and resources they need. The House provides the parents and siblings of these children with a temporary haven in a secure and comfortable environment among other families sharing a similar burden.
