Youth Environmental Awareness Contest Series

The Rotary Club of Nature Celebrators is to organize a youth-centered environmental contest series, engaging local secondary school students in a meaningful and creative exploration of environmental issues through visual art, creative writing, and public speaking.

The competitions will be held under the theme "Our Planet, Our Responsibility", encouraging young minds to express their views, ideas, and solutions for environmental sustainability. The project will culminate in a celebration event where selected winners will be recognized and invited to present their works.

Goals:
  • Increase youth awareness and action on environmental issues.
  • Promote creativity and leadership among middle and high school students.
  • Foster community engagement and Rotary visibility through youth empowerment.
  • Support alignment with Rotary’s areas of focus, especially Supporting the Environment and Basic Education & Literacy.
Project Activities:
  • Launch of contest with outreach to schools
  • Collection of artwork, writing pieces, and recorded/public speeches
  • Judging by a panel of Rotarians, educators, and environmental advocates
  • Final awards ceremony and exhibition/speaking showcase
  • Winning entries to be published/displayed on Rotary platforms

Multicultural Fundraising Gala Celebrates Diversity and Supports Youth Environmental Awareness

White Rock, BC — The Rotary Club of Nature Celebrators successfully hosted its Multicultural Fundraising Gala on Saturday, January 24, from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Semiahmoo Fish and Game Club, bringing together community members, cultural groups, and local leaders for an evening of unity, celebration, and service. More than 100 people attended the gala, demonstrating strong community support for multiculturalism and environmental initiatives.
The event featured a range of cultural performances that highlighted the diversity of the local community and created a warm and inclusive atmosphere. Guests enjoyed music and cultural presentations, including vibrant Asian traditional dance performances and a colorful Indian fashion show that showcased cultural heritage and artistic expression.
Mayor Locke attended the event and delivered remarks recognizing the importance of multiculturalism and community involvement. She praised the Rotary Club of Nature Celebrators for its dedication to environmental protection and youth engagement, and encouraged continued collaboration in building a more inclusive and sustainable community.
Through the generosity of attendees and partners, the gala raised over USD 1,500 in support of youth environmental awareness projects. These funds will help inspire young people to become more conscious of environmental issues and to take active roles in protecting the natural world.

The Multicultural Fundraising Gala highlighted the power of community connection and reinforced the Rotary Club’s mission of promoting environmental responsibility and social harmony through service.
