Consultant (Contract/Paid)

United Nations Development Program (UNDP), New York/South Africa Aug. 2010-2011

 Reviewed and analyzed anti-corruption documents and produced a comprehensive report looking at East and Southern African Country Office reports for the period between 2007 and 2010.

 Collected and analyzed UNDP’s reports: United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) and Country Programme Document (CPD) to develop a mechanism for ensuring that UNDP resources were used effectively in fighting corruption.

 Collaborated with UNDP’s Headquarter Office in New York, Regional Offices (RO) and each Country Office (CO) to map out UNDP’s recent interventions in the field of anti-corruption.

 Identified key governmental, non-governmental agencies in the field of anti-corruption in the region and within each country, to further define UNDP’s comparative advantage to identify possible partners.

 Analyzed trends, challenges and provided recommendations for future anti-corruption work in the region.

ATHGO: Fourth Annual Global Forum, United Nations, New York, NY April 2008

 Coordinated the financial planning function to ensure compliance with UN financial standards.

 Coordinated event with 400 young people from around the world with national and international decision-makers, corporate executives, renowned scientists, UN diplomats and area experts.

 Facilitated group discussions and provided assistance, guidance, and supervision to group members leading to final report at the end of the Forum.

 Participated in building the network of collaborators which includes 871 members worldwide, Knowledge Partners and Organization Members in the U.S., Canada, Italy, UK, Chile, Colombia, Cameroon, and Poland, India, China.

 Provided research assistance by identifying grant institutions, establishing contacts with organizations, editing letters to partners and liaising between partners, grant institutions and UCP-SARnet.

 Presented the platform at international conferences in the U.S. and in Europe and supervised projects conducted by Regional Coordinators in 22 countries.

 Secured five guest speakers who addressed women’s issues in Sudan.

 Handled finances for the fundraising event and reception of VIP guests.

 Created and distributed promotional materials, which resulted in 300 attendees.

National Student Representative (Full-time/Unpaid) Society for Community Research and Action (APA Division 27) Aug. 2007-2009

 Published quarterly reports in The Community Psychology on new developments within division.

 Oversaw all student activities within APA Division 27, submitted student program and budgetary requests to the Executive Board, supervised and awarded research grants.

 Recruited members, edited student submitted publications, provided support to Regional Coordinators in North America.

 

International Student (Full-time/Unpaid) Warsaw School of Social Psychology, Warsaw, Poland May-June 2006

 Studied Polish democracy, economic inclusion into the European Union, conflict resolution, and post communist transformation.

 Took part in discussion with faculty, experts on democracy, and the role of negotiations in developing democracies as articulated by those who took part in the Round Table Negotiation which ushered in a democratic state in Poland.

 Led the Simulation of a UN Summit with participation of members from Turkey, Spain, Poland, and the United States, by mediating between various countries trying to obtain aid to fight an epidemic that was spreading.

 

Organizing Team, ASU Annual Summer Institute on Community (Full-time/Paid) Arizona State University, Phoenix, AZ June 2006/2007

 Participated in the planning and organizing of two Institutes by building partnerships between researchers, students and community organizations that, in turn, empowered all participating individuals to acquire even stronger involvement in social action.

 Assisted Dept. of Psychology & Office of Summer Sessions in identifying speakers in the U.S. and Europe, drafted letters to speakers and community organizations and ensured attendance at the Institutes.

 Promoted the events across ASU’s four campuses and greater communities in Phoenix; recruited students and professors and ensured the participation of 34 presenters and 25 community organizations.

 Prepared and administered evaluations to all participants; collected and analyzed results and submitted final report to Arizona State University.
