The Rotary Club of Sedona Red Rocks celebrated its 10th Anniversary at the noon meeting on March 14. .
The club's charter was issued from RI on March 15, 2002 and the first meeting was held at the Adult Community Center on April 3. Several months later, meetings were re-located to the Los Abrigados Spa & Resort where the club continues to meet each Wednesday at noon. Of the 25 original charter members, five have passed away and ten remain active. DG Sara Jane Feldman and her husband PDG Marty attended the festivities along with AG Catherine Moore. DG Sara Jane awarded each of the remaining ten charter members a PHF which was a gift from the club for their years of service. The deceased members were memorialized by Donna Hawk (Charter Member) and Father J. C. Ortiz (Charter Member but no longer active). The ten "elders" of the club each then shared a special memory of their time with Red Rocks Rotary. In its ten years, the club has given more than $100,000 back to the local community. It has given $88,000 to the RI Foundation and has established its own Endowment Fund that surpassed the $100,000 marks only days prior to the celebration. Since its inception, Red Rocks Rotary has focused on youth oriented projects and programs both locally and globally. Its largest project to date was a $43,000 playground enhancement at the West Sedona Elementary School which was part of an RI International Matching Grant. The club hosts an annual charitable golf tournament which funds its annual giving. Back to school back packs, child car safety seats for low income families, RYLA delegates, youth exchange, an annual Teacher of the Year Award and many more vital programs have benefitted from the club's largess
