In January 2027, the Rotary Club of Bullhead City hosts the 12th Annual Slab-O-Rama BBQ Challenge in Bullhead City, Arizona.
What is Slab-O-Rama? Think of it as a giant picnic… All your friends will be there for some good old-fashioned family fun… great BBQ, great music, and of course, great beer (because you can’t have BBQ without beer). What could be a better way to start off the New Year than this?
The Slab-O-Rama BBQ Competition is a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned contest which will allow the winning team to automatically qualify for the annual American Royal, the Jack Daniels compeition and the BBQ World Cup, where teams will be competiton for $1 million. BBQ teams and grilling gurus from across the nation will be descending upon Bullhead City to "bring the heat" and "taste the glory", going head-to-head in the KCBS sanctioned categories of Chicken, Ribs, Pork, and Brisket, and in the open categories of Sausage, Appetizers, Desserts, and Cook’s Choice. With over 60 BBQ teams, over 100 judges, thousands of attendees, and support from the City of Bullhead City, Slab-O-Rama is one of the biggest BBQ Competitions in the West!
The fun starts on Friday January 15, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. The whole community is invited to “meat us” at Rotary Park and sample beers, visit local vendors and sponsors, hear some great music and participate in the Public Sampling, which will give community a chance to sample some very tasty BBQ grub prepared by participating teams, and to choose their favorites. Also on Friday Night, the Rotary Club of Bullhead City and the Sunrise Rotary Club will be bringing back the Kids-Q Competition for the Little Pitmasters. We are also bringing back to the 12th Annual Slab-O-Rama BBQ Challenge our Steak Cookoff, sponsored by the Steak Cookoff Association. This competition is open to anyone who wants to compete and anyone who thinks their steak is the best around…. $5,000 in prizes is on the line.
The fun continues Saturday January 16, 2027, beginning at 10:00 a.m. when the competition will be in full force. Of course, the Public Sampling will continue throughout the day, which will allow the community to sample some great BBQ and choose the People’s Choice Winner. And don’t forget, the Rotary Club of Bullhead City will also be hosting a Winter Beer Garden, Bloody Mary Bar, Margarita Bar, Corn Hole Tournament for the adults, live music, a kid’s fun zone, adult Fun Zone, a pet adoption event, vendors, and so much more!
