At the meeting of June 11, 2017 12 Rotarians were joined by 2 Guests:  Mike Cerna and Gillian Derer.  During the meeting, we inducted Mike as a new Rotarian.  He is shown in the photo below with Sponsor Rick Cox (left).

Bob Marsden reported that our Exchange Student Erika Poderos is having a great time in Ancona, Italy and will return home along with her Host Sister at the end of the month.

Trip of the Month tickets - Ken Patterson reported that we still have 86 tickets to sell and the Museum has 76.  We still have 8 days left before we close off sales for 2017.

Our Guest Speaker was Gillian Derer who we sponsored for the Rotary Adventure in Citizenship in Ottawa.  She told us about the great friends she had made even before she left for Ottawa through Facebook Group Chat.  In Ottawa, they met the Speaker and Clerk of the House of Commons and toured the Parliament Buildings.  Part of their Adventure was an evening of French Canadian culture and music.

The group took part in a Citizenship Ceremony at the National Archives of Canada.  Gillian described it as a very proud moment but an emotional one as well since she saw how much it meant to new citizens to become Canadian.  It made her very proud to be Canadian herself and helped her appreciate what a great country we inhabit.
