Our Rotary meeting today took us on the road to Ottumwa High School, where we toured several of their impressive new facilities.
Over the past few years, the district has invested approximately $60 million in improvements, renovations, and additions — all without raising property taxes.
We heard updates on the new Science labs and Family & Consumer Science labs, and learned about the fully updated strength and conditioning room and wrestling room. There are currently 600 students in grades 8–12 participating in strength and conditioning, along with 70 high school wrestlers and 100 youth wrestlers using the new wrestling space.
Our tour also included the renovated vocal music, band, and orchestra areas, as well as updates to the auditorium, benefiting the entire fine arts program.
The final highlight was the brand-new competition gym, an impressive addition to the campus.
