Welcome to the Riga International Rotary Club

Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.
The Riga International Rotary Club was chartered on 22 August 1998. We belong to the Rotary District 2405 which covers the whole Latvia and part of Sweden.
The first Rotary Club of Riga was founded 1933, it was shut down during the Soviet occupation.
During “Glasnost” in the late 1980s and the following liberation of Latvia the old Riga Rotary club was restarted with help from the Swedish Rotary organization.
A number of foreign experts came to Riga to help modernize the society.
Many of them wanted to do more for Latvia and joined the Rotary club.
Because of the increasing number of foreigners who could not speak Latvian there was a decision to start an English spoken club:
The Riga International Rotary Club.

The Club has the status of an approved charity organization by VID, so if you make a donation
to us it will be considered as eligible allowance for corporate income tax purposes,
depending upon the approach you use.

We invite you to participate and welcome any contributions to this yearly charity event.

Santa’s Fun Run first began in December since 2008 and has been an annual tradition since.

This year’s funds are going to be donated to support our long-term partner- the Ronald McDonald House Charities Latvija (RMHC Latvija) children’s “Care Mobile” program.

The mission of the children’s “Care Mobile” program is to enable access and availability of professional health services for children throughout Latvia, especially the tough to reach places in the countryside.

We had the "Hand Over" meeting at Kuksu Muiza. Hand over from previous President: Karlis Bancovics to our new President Thuc To. It is the second time Thuc becomes President of the Club.
A deep thank you to Karlis for he's efforts to vitalize our Club. And a BIG welcome to Thuc.
It was a delightful warm afternoon for our Handover ceremony at Kuksa manor. Thank you for everyone who attended this unforgettable event to kick off the 2024-25 year. Looking forward to this adventure with old/new and deepening our friendships together through creating memorable experiences.

Also March 7th we got a visit from Virginia USA: Lindsey Watson.
The picture shows the exchange of Club Flags.

One of the main charity events that we do every year is the Santa's Fun Run.
It is arranged in Riga a few weeks before Christmas.
We usually manage to raise a good sum of money for charity by this event.

Since a few years we have done the so called "Food Drive". We donate money and buy food to needy families in Latvia. The Salvation Army is helping us to distribute the food packages. This happens around Christmas.
We are collaborating with the Bad Homburg Kurpark Rotary Club in Germany from where we get yearly donations of used clothes.
We take help from the Salvation Army to distribute the clothes to needy people in Latvia.
Rotaract in Riga
Rotaract clubs bring together people ages 18 and older to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, to develop leadership and professional skills and have fun through service.

In communities worldwide, Rotary and Rotaract members work side by side
We have an international Rotaract club related to us here in Riga.
All over the world there are Rotary Clubs, as a member you are always welcome to visit them.

Below we show flags from clubs that have visited us or that we have visited.
We meet every week.
We usually invite guest speakers to inform us on interesting issues.
Sometimes we have bigger gatherings for fun with families as showed on the picture to the left.
