Egypt has roughly 3 million children born annually; 35’000 with CHD; 17’000 need intervention in the first 5 years of life
•10’000 will need surgery and 7’000 will need catheters •The Government of Egypt (GOE) sponsors surgeries only; due to high catheter cost; yet only 3’000 cases are conducted through Government run hospitals.
RC of El Tahrir has sponsored 40 cases over the course of the last 2 years, in Cairo and Beni Sueif. It intends Heart2Heart as one of its sustainable development projects spanning from 2017-2020 in Upper Egypt.
•In the Rotary year 2017-2018 RC of El Tahrir completed 28 cases •In the first quarter of Rotary year 2018-2019 RC of El Tahrir completed 22 cases with the aim to complete another 50 by the end of Rotary year 2019 •RC of El Tahrir’s target for 2019-2020 is to complete an additional 50 cases.

Thankfully, most of these children can lead a normal and healthy life with timely intervention. So, we need to diagnose these problems early and treat them timely to help the little hearts beat healthy.
