Tom Hudson, owner of Crossroads Shooting Range.
Tom is a 20 year retired veteran from active duty Navy. He has traveled many places around the world and spent most of his time in the pacific northwest. Tom randomly found himself in Des Moines as a Navy recruiter.
Tom identified the need for an indoor range that appealed to both men and women out of necessity. He found that our Des Moines market did not provide a good indoor solution for shooting or a solution that was inviting to women. He started in the spring of 2013 doing research, for the next year and a half he spoke to other cities and visited many other indoor shooting locations around the country. He found Johnston to be a suitable and inviting city for this type of business. He has now created a business that can hold 4 events simultaneously inside the same building and still allow regular shooters to enjoy the range. The building is heavily built including 30,000 lbs of chewed up rubber to stop the rounds down range, beyond that is a fully enclosed concrete shell. His staff is largely female including one of the country’s top shooters.
Tom and Crossroads have participated in many events including recently Puppy Jake Foundation.
Tom invites anyone who is new to firearms to come down and rent a firearm. Instructors are on sight along with everything anyone needs to participate.
