
Amber Martin, the Director of Community Engagement with Kinship Brewery in Waukee visited Johnston Rotary. She is the former Amber Alexander, Meteorologist with Channel WHO13 Des Moines TV. Kinship Brewery turned two years old January 1, and is located on the angled portion of the Raccoon River Bike trail, northwest of Highway 6 in Waukee. Kinship has 2,500 square foot taproom; a 3,000 SF beer garden, and a ½ acre dog park. They have plans to add a dining hall in the next couple of years. Some of their beers are also available at Fareway and HyVee stores.
Amber talked about the owners, Zach and Ann Zobeck, and their desire to give back and invest in the community. They established a program called "Kinship in the Neighborhood," and four times a year they have fundraiser events for various organizations. This year they plan to have fundraiser events for Everybody Wins Iowa, the Puppy Jake Foundation, DMARC, and Please Pass the Love.
