The pandemic has had a large effect on most activities including the Johnston Police Department.  Today our program was a Zoom meeting with Johnston Police Chief Dennis McDaniel, Sergeant Zach Grandon and Lieutenant Tyler Tomkins.
 
Lieutenant Tompkins started and touched on the following topics:
-  Measures to keep full service.
-  Officer responsibilities with Covid.
-  CDC guidelines.
-  Budget impact.
-  Criminal activity cycle during the pandemic.
 
Sergeant Grandon followed with:
-  Community policing.
-  School Reserve Officers (SRO's).
-  Community Outreach.
-  Community help and interactions.
 
Chief McDaniel concluded and discussed:
-  Social and civil unrest during the pandemic.
-  Upcoming budget plans.
-  Staffing approaches, updates and planned changes.
-  Resource utilization and  training.
 
They concluded with a Q&A.
 
Rotarians ended the meeting with a comment of our sincere thanks for all the quality work that the Johnston Police Department does for our community.
