Congressman David Young speaks on the issues in D.C. He just flew back last night. Now that he is back in town he will be attending several town hall meetings. Leading up to the government shut down, the Dreamer program is what was not agreed upon. He believes there will need to be compromise from both sides on this issue. His goals are for clean water, a safe environment, secure borders, and building/improving the infrastructure. He has been working on the Fingerprint Act, which would require any rules and regulations that go into effect to have the name of those who wrote it and who were consulted. He hopes this will help people "own it." He voted "Yes" for the tax reform; people should start seeing the new tax tables around Feb. This also repealed the individual mandate for insurance. When congress resumes, they will need to get back to health care reform, which will require a compromise in order to make a bipartisan bill. He is hoping to bring back insurance markets and return some autonomy to the states to better serve the American people. President Trump has planned to release his principles and his plan for infrastructure building without increasing the deficit-goal for release is Jan. 30th. President Trump has changed some trade agreements, he is wanting bilateral trade agreements for the U.S. The Chairman of the Intelligence Committee issued a 4-page memo available to members of Congress. Young states that it puts the dots together and indicates abuses of power. He believes that this memo should be public. To do this, Congress needs to vote, or President Trump can release it via executive order.
