Today’s guest speaker was District 6000 Membership Committee Member, Chris Nelson.

Rotary continues to maintain a membership of about $1.2 million members.  The issue is that new members are just replacing members that leave Rotary.  Everyone knows that turnover is something that will happen but growing membership, engaging our current members and making sure that new members feel welcome is everyone’s responsibility.

District 6000 total membership is just short of 4,000.  Some clubs are having some success in growing membership and one of the common traits is that these clubs are making  their clubs, the membership meetings and other club activates FUN.   Every club and its membership is different, but making Rotary a fun place to be, a place to build and foster relationships and to do what Rotarians do: MAKE A DIFFERENCE are the keys to a growing and successful club.

Chris encouraged all of use to look for ways to continue the successful growth our club is experiencing and to keep up the good work.  From the look of it, things are going great for the Johnston Club.  Two new members are teed up and if all of us ASK SOMEONE TO JOIN, this will continue.

With Chris on the right, is Gene Nelsen, the Johnston Rotary Club President.  Geno reported today that since his relatively young Presidency, 6 new Rotarians have been added to the Johnston Rotary Club rooster.
