Al Zimmerman, President of the Compeer Board introduced Sara Ross Chief Executive Director of Compeer, Compeer was established in January 2000 and is a non-profit organization. The Slogan for Compeer is "Mental Wellness Starts with Friendship". The Mission statement is: To reduce loneliness and isolation by receiving medical treatment and developing friendships.
The Corporate Friendship Model; There is a valued friend linked with a staff member they then participate in activities; then a therapist.
Ways to help; Opportunities for participants, Join an advisory board, Be a program volunteer. Volunteers have criminal background checks, and reference checks.. A volunteer must be at least 18 years old.

President John called the meeting to order at 7:08 am. John played the guitar and we sang "If I had a Hammer". Pete Seger recorded this song in 1962 and the song became a civil rights song.
Deb Ockenfels talked about the food fight. We are sending $15,000 to the Food Bank for use for the Mobil Pantry. There is $5,000 left for purchase of food and the rest in frozen ground turkey.
Can were a success on Saturday. 72 bags $727.00. 11. Volunteers.
Monday August 18th is the Rotary Club of Iowa City AM Board Meeting 5:30 pm-6:30 pm. Friday August 15th is the Iowa City Area President's meeting.
Vernette Knapp said that RLI would take place Saturday September 20, and Sunday September 21 in Cedar Rapids at Shive Hattery. All Three courses will be offered. The club will pay for all fees.
