Shelly Werner, Club Foundation Chair spoke about the Foundation and Polio Plus. She said that the members of our club are very giving and generous.
The mission of Polio Plus is to eradicate poliomyelitis, a crippling and potentially fatal disease by immunizing every child in the world. launched in 1985 by Rotary its mission carried out through the Global Polio Eradication initiative, and it involves funding immunization campaigns, providing operation support and donating volunteer hours. The Bil and Melinda Gates Foundation will match 2 to 1 for 8 mores years.
Polio Plus began with Dr. Albert Sabin developed the oral polio vaccine. Wednesday October 22, 2025 will be the ICARP Polio Event at Midwest One Penthouse from 5:30pm-6:45pm. A donation of $25-$30 is suggested to enter. Please consider giving more.

This Event usually created $2,000-$3,000 for our club. Dr. Hans Haus will be the speaker. Our Club is responsible for the appetizers and wine. Shelly Werner will collect checks and send them into Rotary International.
John and Deb Ockenfels have a $5,000 match through October for the Atlantic Rim Flight. Please make check payable to the Rotary Foundation. and give to Chirs Knapp Treasurer.

In November, Foundation Month, Shelly will talk about the Polio Plus Society. Currently the club has 24 members to the Polio Plus Society. A reminder that the $100.00 contribution should be made at this time. Please make checks out to the Rotary Foundation and give to Chris Knapp. We will take part in the Ride to End Polio. Looking for Riders. The Ride will be in November.

Karin Franklin gave a quick synopsis of Meal on Wheels (MOW) She said that delivering the meals can be very rewarding as the people you deliver to, you may be the only person that they see that day. It takes about 2 hours to deliver.
the meals are picked up in Coralville. Currently delivering meals are Karin Franklin, Phil Peterson, Nenu Peragine, Liz Nichols, Jennifer Skarda Mark Stanley, Jack Tank, Mark Patton.

Norlan Hinke and Cindy District Governor will be at Vesta's on Tuesday October 21, 5:00 pm-6:30 pm. 30 Hop will be dinner at 7:00 pm with the Rotaract Club. They will receive 20% of all sales for their projects.
