Anthony Detwiler, Community Relation Officer, Coralville Police Department and Dusty Noble, Patrol Deputy for the Johson county Sheriff's Department and Safety Village President presented a review of the Safety Village Project that the club did the District Grant for $10,000.00 for rebuilding the Old Capitol Building in the Safety Village. The Old Capitol Building holds all the little cars that the children drive around the village during the 2-week camp during the summer. The Safety Village was started by Dr. Skaugstad and Pete Knapp 30 years ago opening in 1995. The children that attend are ages 5-7 years of age. During the two-week camp the children learn safety from policeman, fireman, EMT, there are also classroom classes offered during the two-week camp \.
Over the 30 years, the Safety Village has trained over 5,000 children. Annually there are usually between 25- 30 children trained. Future goals include increasing awareness and participation.
The Safety Village is very grateful for the District Grant for $10,000 from the Rotary Club of Iowa City.

Tuesday October 21, 2025, District Governor, Norlan and Cindy Hinke will visit the Extension Club at Vesta's 5:00 6:30 pm. The Rotaract will have a Dine in at 30 Hop at 7:00 pm. They will earn 20% of all sales for that evening.
The Polio Event will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Midwest One Penthouse from 5:30pm-6:45 pm. The guest speaker will be Dr,. Hans Haus, Infectious Disease at the University of Iowa Hospitals.
