A Christmas to Remember
Shults & Co., our own musical fund raising group, entertained our club members and spouses at our annual Christmas party. The event was held at Westside Family Restaurant and featured a special menu to match the holiday festivities.
Following the singing of ten lively, classic Christmas choral arrangements,the men in the group gave a rousing rendition of "Here Comes Santa Claus". Our very own Santa Claus (who resembled an older, bearded version of Rotarian Jim White) passed out gifts and awards.
The friendly servers at Westside were given their annual gratuity and recognized by the club for the excellent service received throughout the year.
CLEM BODENSTEINER
The faithful coordinator of the Rotary International Student
program, Clem and wife Leona have hosted a foreign student
in their own home. Our chief cook and bottle washer,Clem
organizes the GHS spaghetti dinner and Happy Days brat
stand to raise funds for Dollars for Scholars. He has served
Grinnell Rotary as president and board member.
BOB BRIERLY
BOb is the impetus behind our club's project in Uganda. We are
helping a village renew their local economy, wasted by the ruin
of an entire crop of coffee plants wiped out by rust. Bob and
wife Sally have personally visited Uganda, returning with many
stories of the village's appreciation. The ongoing project is in
cooperation with a Ugandan Rotary Club.
ALLEN LATCHAM
The man behind the Chicken Barbeque, our main annual
fundraiser. The barbeque enables us to support many
deserving requests for supportfrom community entities.
It takes a big man to do this big job!
FRANK SHULTS
Our very own "Music Man"...Frank Shults & Company's biennial
musical review is another major Rotary fundraiser. The 2007
show made possible a $5,000 donation to our new library.
JIM WHITE
Every club needs a cheerleader, and that person is Jim White.
Jim's years of membership are testimony to his unflagging de-
votion to and participation in all Rotary projects and events.
Jim is noted for his 32 years of membership and perfect
attendance.

Join to Defeat Polio
"If the world fails to eradicate polio, an estimated 10 million children will be paralyzed over the next 40 years"...
With these words, the latest edition of THE ROTARIAN announces a partnership with Bill
Gates to get the job of erasing polio from the earth. It is a challenge to all Rotarians
to join the effort to finish this humanitarian project.
"There is fresh hope and energy for partners in Global Polio Eradication. New projects,
sharper tools and successful fundraising are yielding numbers that suggest that the
disease may soon be soon rooted from the still remaining endemic countries of
Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and Pakistan"...THE ROTARIAN
The Grinnell Rotary Club has recently completed a three-year pledge of $5,000
to assist in the Rotary International Program Polio Plus, a part of efforts
described above. We can be proud of the support we have given, and hope to
assist the fight until final victory is won...another example of our motto:
"Service Above Self".
