Here's something that could help you in your business.  It would be nice to have a good group from East Polk Rotary there.  Let Melissa know if you plan to attend.

Soft skills are sometimes referred to as transferable skills or professional skills.  As this term implies, these are skills that are less specialized, less rooted in specific vocations, and more aligned with the general disposition and personality of the candidate.  Examples of important soft skills are communication, teamwork and problem solving.

Soft skills are the difference between adequate candidates and ideal candidates.  In most competitive job markets recruitment criteria do not stop at technical ability and specialist knowledge.  Recruiters will be looking for people who can become leaders, and leadership itself depends on several key soft skills.

Take advantage of this refresher course for you and your employees with Karla Brazelton of Purdue University Global, THURSDAY, AUGUST 23, at noon in the Hy-Vee Club Room, 108 8th Street SW.  This class is FREE and open to the public.  Pick up something for lunch from the many options on the lower level and bring it with you to the class.  Space is limited, so please RSVP to melissahorton@altoonachamber.org.  Thank you to the sponsor, Bankers Trust.
