Everyone wants to be healthier, but not everyone has the will power of our speaker last week.  Pete Drury shared his health journey of working to lose 95 pounds and keeping it off.  The secret is a healthier life style.  We all find this much easier said than done, but persistence does pay off.  He compared his photos from before and after, and it was amazing.  Best wishes to all who are working on this for 2019!

This week Steve Hall is Rotarian of the Day and Darrell Hansen is serving as Sergeant-at-Arms.

Interact Club News -

Greetings from the Rotary District 6000 Interact Team.
Wayne HS in Corydon now has an interact club.  Welcome, Wayne HS and Advisor Amber Cassady!
New Clubs
Last year (2017-18), we added four new clubs in District 6000.  Mid-Prairie HS (Wellman), Liberty HS (Iowa City), Valley HS (West Des Moines), and Newton HS.  So far this year (2018-19) we have four new clubs in the district.  Adel (still working on application), Ft. Madison HS, Ft. Madison MS, and Wayne HS in Corydon.
Youth Exchange
By the end of January, Rotary clubs in District 6000 will be making commitments to host exchange students from various countries around the world.  Interact students are an excellent source of potential host families.  Typically, a family will host from mid-August to mid-November, or mid-November to mid-February, or mid-February to June.  Encourage your students to think about hosting, and if their families are interested, have them contact your Rotary club.
Ideas for Service Projects
These are examples of some of the projects that clubs around the district have done.  Volunteer for events of non-profit groups (e.g. child care), volunteer at a food pantry, make items for children's hospital (e.g. sock dolls, blankets); pick up litter along highways, streets, or at/near a school; make cards for people who have lost a child; organize a blood drive;  rake leaves for the elderly; read to children at an elementary school; raise funds for a cause.
