Finishing Strong Together

Greetings Rotarians, Rotaractors and friends.

As we near the end of the Rotary year, we get to celebrate the year that has been and also usher in new leaders. Congratulations to the Unity Presidents for a year of great service and a warm welcome to the army of Presidents-Elect who are being installed across the district.

To our members who have attended various installations, thank you. Your participation greatly contributes to the visibility of our club. Please keep sharing those moments so that through you we can also enjoy and celebrate the work of other clubs.

Thank you for representing Rotary Club of Kampala North at installations across the district and helping to showcase the spirit of our club.

Last week, we sadly received notification that Ugandans were barred from entering Taiwan and that our visas had been cancelled. The impact on individual Rotarians who had planned to travel is immense. Cancelled bookings often come with penalties and other inconveniences. We commiserate with all those affected.

Now that it is not possible to attend the RI Convention, let us put our energies into finishing strong here at home. June is the Month of Rotary Fellowships. Share your hobby, your vocation and, for those involved in Rotary Fellowships, share the benefits of those fellowships and encourage your neighbour to join.

June is the Month of Rotary Fellowships. Share your passions, build new connections and invite others to experience the fellowship that makes Rotary unique.

Reach out to that member you have not seen for a while and check on them. A simple phone call, message or visit can make a meaningful difference.

We have a number of members serving the nation in many ways. We congratulate our member, PE Olive Lumonya, and the Government of Uganda on the launch of Kidepo Airport. I am sure it will come in handy for many of us who have not yet visited that part of the country, besides the immense impact it will have on tourism, connectivity and national development.

Congratulations to PE Olive Lumonya and all those whose efforts contributed to the successful launch of Kidepo Airport.

Last but not least, we still have a lot of work going on. We have projects running that need our attention. We have the Bwambara Global Grant that requires us to contribute US$5,000. So far, we have received pledges totaling US$1,850.

Let us do more, members. Every contribution brings us closer to transforming lives and successfully delivering this important project.

I also urge you to pay your dues for next year as quickly as possible. Let us finish this Rotary year strong and ensure that the next year starts equally well.
