Finishing the Unity Year Strong
As the Rotary International Convention unfolds in Taipei and preparations for the new Rotary year gather pace at home, our club has much to celebrate. This week we recognise our Rotary Foundation supporters, welcome three new members into our Rotary family, and continue our commitment to the Bwambara Global Grant project.
Greetings Rotarians and Friends,
The Rotary International Convention is currently underway in Taipei, bringing together Rotarians from around the world in celebration of service, fellowship, and the ideals that unite us. We extend our best wishes to all delegates attending the convention and hope they have a memorable and enriching experience.
If any of our members were able to enter Taiwan before the travel restrictions affecting Ugandan passport holders took effect, we look forward to hearing about their experiences. While virtual participation can never fully replace being physically present, it is encouraging to know that our own PP Francis "Tusu" Tusubira was able to join online and ensure that our club was represented.
Back home, preparations for the new Rotary year continue in earnest. Over the weekend, members of our Membership Committee participated in a productive training session that was both interactive and informative. The discussions demonstrated that we understand our membership challenges and, more importantly, have practical ideas on how to address them. I look forward to seeing the committee build upon the strong foundation laid by the current team and continue transforming how we attract, engage, and retain members.
This week's fellowship promises to be a special one as we recognise our generous contributors to The Rotary Foundation and formally induct three new members into our club. What a wonderful way to conclude the Unity Year. I warmly welcome our incoming Rotarians and encourage every member to make them feel at home—not only on the day of induction, but throughout their Rotary journey.
We are also honoured that District Governor Geoffrey Kitakule will join us to preside over the induction ceremony and recognise our Foundation supporters. I encourage all members to attend and be part of this important occasion.
As we celebrate these milestones, let us not forget our commitment to the Bwambara Global Grant project. We still have outstanding pledges amounting to US$1,550. If you have made a pledge, kindly fulfil it at your earliest opportunity. If you have not yet contributed, I encourage you to consider supporting this important initiative as we work together to make a lasting difference in the community we serve.
As the final days of the Unity Year unfold, let us continue making the most of every Rotary opportunity. Attend installations, visit other clubs, strengthen friendships, and share your experiences with fellow members. Together, we can finish the year as strongly as we began it.
I look forward to seeing you on Monday, 15 June 2026, at 6:00 PM.
Yours in Service,
Rtn. Stella Alibateese
