AWARDS
The Awards Committee is responsible for the Educator Awards (ceremony in the spring) and the Fire and Police Awards (ceremony in July). The committee typically meets once a month January-May. For over twenty years the RCDM Foundation has shown appreciation to special public servants. The police officer and firefighter of the year awards recognize men and women who excel in their commitment to public safety. A firefighter and police officer are awarded this honor from our Club each year. A billboard with their photo is placed around Greater Des Moines in various locations throughout the year to commemorate their service. A $500 donation is also made to the charity of their choice.
We are proud of the fine educators in the Des Moines Public School system. The RCDM Foundation shows this appreciation by recognizing up to five educators for the work they do inside and outside the community. Each year, principals nominate elementary high school and middle school educators to receive this distinction. Each educator of the year receives a $1000 stipend, a memento and a traveling plaque is displayed at their school.
