International Projects
1944 - Our club sold $19,000 worth of war bonds to help support World War II.
1980 -The Lucas County Health Center contributed hospital beds, medical equipment and supplies through the Rotary Club of Chariton to FAMSCO (Fire & Medical Supply Company) in the late 1980's to be shipped to developing countries.
1988 - Our club raised $24,200 in cash and pledges for the eradication of Polio.
2002-2005 - Our club contributed over $9,000 for the eradication of Polio. Marion Coons and The Coons Foundation have given $1,500 annually for many years through the Chariton club for the eradication of Polio.
2003 - Our club contributed $300 for classrooms in Xicotepec, Mexico
2005 - Our club contributed $357 for the Tsunami Disaster which was a District 6000 project.
2005 - Our club contributed $800 for Katrina Relief which was a District 6000 project.
2005 - Our club contributed $250 for surgery for Rebaz Shamsadeen, a young boy from Iraq, with a hole in his heart which was a District 6000 project.
2006 - Rural Health Care Advantage donated medical equipment & supplies through the Rotary Club of Chariton to FAMSCO (Fire and Medical Supply Company).
2006 - The Rotary Club of Chariton, Decatur County, Corydon & Osceola purchased a new ambulance for Xicotepec, Mexico using District Designated Funds (DDF) which was matched by a Matching Grant from The Rotary Foundation.
2008 - Our club contributed $250 for the eradication of Polio
2008 - Our club was approved for a Matching Grant from The Rotary Foundation to drill wells in Haiti. With the $10,000 memorial gift from the Jerry Willis family, along with contributions from seven other clubs (Albia, Centerville, Corydon, Decatur County, Knoxville, Osceola and Pella), the District World Community Service Committee awarded us $25,000 in District Designated Funds (DDF) which was matched by The Rotary Foundation for a total of $50,000 to drill 10 wells in Haiti.
2011-12 - Our club contributed $1000 for latrines in Guida Village Abuja, Nigeria.
2013- Our club contributed $1500 for a Competitive Matching Grant in partners with RC Fairfield, along with many other Rotary Clubs & RC Narayani Mid Town in Nepal. This project supplied water to 8,000 to 12,000 indiividuals.
2014 - Our club contributed $500 for a Matching Grant in South Africa with Hy-Vee and several Rotary clubs & the RC of Polokwane & RC Pietersburg 100. This grants was for 15 boreholes for water to Limpopo.
2014 - Our club contributed $1,960 to the PolioPlus Program.c
2015 - Since 2015 our club has given $1,000 to the PolioPlus Program
2017 - The Rotary Clubs of Decatur County, Carroll, Osceola, Winterset & Chariton contributed to a matching global grant to help improve science education to 2,500 K-8 students, We provided science lab equipment to six public schools in Chile. The total grant was $41,169.
