3/2/26 Rotary Meeting Minutes

Brag bucks:
Aaron J – turned 47 last Monday; his brother’s birthday is today
Bob F – 16” softball HOF inductee x2; 60 years of slow-pitch
Stephen – Son won a rifle at the Pheasant’s Forever 2 weeks ago
 
Club business:
  1. Guest bartender event – 3/25/26; make sure you are getting the word out about the event; make plans to help at the event
  2. Speakers are updated on the website
 
Speakers: County Supervisors (Gene & Scott)
Budget: ready to certify; moved money to cut down on tax increase; rural ag did increase a little bit; 0 increase on health insurance; gave flat dollar $1800 raise to everyone except the attorney (he got more); 3rd year in a row that supervisors didn’t get a raise; $36 million is what it takes to run the County; we are 14th from the lowest of the 99 counties (that means we are cheap to live in); jail is generating revenue and passed inspection with flying colors; ended  contract with Calhoun county; work with other counties to house prisoners if needed; do not house juveniles
Projects: resurface east out of Halbur to 141; box culvert on Sycamore.
Next year: north of Arcadia to country line will be repaved and widened; east of Arcadia will be resurfaced; resurface Dedham; north of Breada; Ethanol plant road by Coon will by resurfaced; Mikkelson bridge replaced.
Other news: new grader received; new snowplow that is smaller; new ambulance should be here in May; IT is very busy and continuing to grow; Security in the courthouse is continuing to grow; Sherriff Tom Franzen did retire (state requires retirement at 66) but can stay on as a Reserve; 2 openings within county for jobs
 
Next meeting: Monday, March 9th – Zoom meeting with Ellen Zimmerman from the US Grain Council 12-1 PM at Piranha Club
