Carroll Rotary Meeting Minutes from 8/28/23

  • Catti: new nephew born on 8/23/23. Now has 8 nephews.
  • Deb: just celebrated her and Dave’s 50th wedding anniversary
New Business:
  1. Ditch Walk: 9/19/23 at 5 PM
    1. Meet at Bomgaars parking lot
    2. CYP contacted to see about partnering up to complete
  2. Meeting location change
    1. We are going to look at The Hub to host our noon meetings.
    2. They are closed for lunch, but we could use the space and order from Piranha Club
  3. Auction List
    1. Catti emailed list out to everyone but will print copies and bring to next meeting.
    2. Please work on getting items donated

  • Initiatives for ’23-24 are focusing on mental health and service
  • Would like for each club to partner to do a service project for those in need
    • We already partner with New Opportunities for events to help those in need
  • Would like for each club to support or host a blood drive
    • Keep track of how much blood is donated among the club and at the end of the year prizes will be awarded
  • Donating of clothes
    • If you donate clothes that are no longer worn, please make sure that you track the weight of clothes donated and at the end of the year there will be prizes awarded
    • We also participate in Operation Winter Coat
      • Dennis to send Adam more information so that we can line up more coats for us to donate.
  • Flight to End Polio
    • Buy a plush animal for $40 and $30 of it will go to Polio
    • Can buy an entire zoo for $240 and then donate the plush animals to a local charity to give to children
    • Contact Dennis and Heidi if interested
    • If you buy a plush animal it will also serve as your ticket to the District 6000 fall social coming up (more info to come on social)
  • District Conference: 4/20/24 at the Pella Opry House
    • There will be a 4-way test speech contest: local high schoolers from each club will be encouraged to participate and then will be narrowed down to the finalists giving their speeches at the District Conference and a winner will be chosen (more info to come)
