9/22/25 Meeting Minutes
Attendees: Catti, Adam, Chris, Cindy, Hubert, Bob F., Rich, Joel, Ben, Lynn
Anniversaries/Brag bucks:
- Rich: 56th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks and will be gone on a trip
- Adam: 25th wedding anniversary on 9/30; going to Boston, MA to celebrate this weekend; attended Tri-City BBQ last weekend in Denison and they had a great turnout, like it is every year
- Cindy: hosted a large event on 9/19 for development and service organizations in Carroll and it was a success
- Chris: Carroll SuperDraft hosted Golf and Bowel over the weekend and raised $2200 for 2 local families
Updates:
- Car: Jerry’s Auto is going to get the car and bring it to their shop and look at it to make sure that it is running and good-to-go before we take possession.

- Established in 2020
- Medicaid funded
- Region funded if out of jail (60-90 days)
- Home and community-based service agency who serves adults with disabilities throughout Iowa.
- ~175 members across Iowa
- 135 host homes – individual lives in the home with family
- There is an entire team that meets to make sure that the individual is a good fit for the family before the individual is placed with the family/community.
- Council Bluffs to Bettendorf
- Ability United staff are on-call 24/7 to always assist host families if needed
- Most homes in DSM metro area
- Don’t charge for payee services
- Offer individualized setting with continuity of care and that is what makes this environment so successful.
- Make individuals as independent as possible and teach them how to live and do things as independently as possible.
- Subs and emergency placements are available when interviewing is taking place.
- Host families are paid a daily rate for hosting members.
