Carroll Rotary Meeting Minutes 8/8/22
 
Attendees: Catti, Chris, Phil, Bob F., John, Hubert, Joel, Bob W., Deb, Lynn, Dave, Ann, Rich, Aaron
 
Brag Bucks:
  • Bob F. – Michaels Shoes played in 16” State Slow-pitch Tournament in Marshalltown over the weekend and they placed 3rd in Class A division.
  • Dave – airport terminal in Dubuque named after his late uncle
  • Rich – Visited Mackinac Island (Mackinaw City), Michigan; there are no motorized vehicles allowed on this island (unless ambulance/fire truck); all transportation is done by horse-drawn carriage or bicycle; 600 horses on island; 400 people live on this island
New Business:
  1. RSVP Golf Outing is
    1. 8/12/22 at noon at the Carroll Muni
    2. Catti, Chris, Adam and John will be representing the Rotary Club.
  2. Hospice:
    1. motion by Phil to donate $500,
    2. 2nd by Ann,
    3. motion passed
  3. Ditch Clean Up:
    1.  Monday, August 29th at 5 PM.
    2. Meet in the Bomgaar’s parking lot.
    3. The more people we can get to help, the quicker it will be.
    4. If the weather is forecasted to be hot, we will reschedule (an email/Facebook post will be sent/made).
  4. Memberships:
    1. Lynn wants to form committee to get membership numbers up
    2. need to show purpose and make unique to Rotary
    3. every member brings 2 candidates to a rotary meeting/social
  5. Rotary as a whole:
    1. We need to get organized: bring back committees and chairpersons
    2. Need a program director that lines up the speakers
    3. Lunch/Dinner and Learns: everyone loved the jail tour and would like to see more of these scheduled.
      1. Templeton Rye Distillery would be a good one
    4. More to come on this
  6. Auction
    1. October 22nd  
    2. 1st planning meeting is next week
    3. Be thinking of how you will contribute.
      1. Chris is donating 50, 30 second commercials that he won to help get the word out.
Next meeting is Monday, August 15th.
