8/4/25 Meeting Minutes
 
Attendees: Adam, Chris, Catti, John, Ann, Steve, Casey, Kim, Lynn, Cindy, Ron, Hubert, Bob F., Olivia Moody
 
Brag bucks:
Ann – Birthday 8/10
Bob F. – 16” state softball 7th place B division
Adam – Aaron Juergens had a great turnout at his cookout on 8/1/25; went to Rocky the musical in Jefferson and it was awesome!
 
Updates:
Polio Plus – World Polio Day is October 24th
  1. Fundraise: pledge $1 for every mile walked during the month of October; host a 5K
  2. What can we do to raise awareness?
Network Against Human Trafficking and Slavery (NAHT)
  1. Letter sent to everyone to sign with their message
  2. Bring it to the meeting and take a group pic and we will post it to our Facebook page to get the word out and around Carroll that we are supporting.  
Car Update
  1. The car is being donated to us by the Schaben family.
  2. We need to get the title signed over to us as soon as possible.
  3. We will need to pay for licensing and registration.
  4. Once we sell the car, we will let the family know the value for tax purposes.
  5. Adam/Chris to take the lead on getting all the details worked out with Schaben family.
Donation letter
  1. Adam/Cindy have drafted the donation letter to be sent out to businesses.
  2. Finishing touches being completed and then they will be ready to get mailed out.
  3. We will do this at one of our upcoming meetings.
Speaker: Olivia Moody – Intern at Carroll Herald
  • ISU Student studying journalism
  • Studied abroad in Hungary and UK prior to coming to Carroll.
  • Favorite articles written while in Carroll (no particular order): Austin’s Army, Stone Pier concert series, Carroll Landfill, interviewed 4 politicians while here, Carroll #1 biking city in Iowa
Things Olivia said about Carroll:
She thought it was cool to see how passionate people are about Carroll.
She is very sad to go.
She enjoyed all the nature.
She made a lot of friends while here and feels like she is part of the community.
She lived in DMACC student housing at New Hope since it was included in her internship.
She would consider moving back to Carroll after college.
