7/22/24 Meeting Minutes
Attendees: Catti, Chris, Adam, Ann, Joel, Paul, Bob F., Bob W., Deb, Hubert
Brag Bucks:
- Deb: Celebrated 51 years of marriage on July 7th
- Bob F. – applied and awarded for Rotary grant help buy a new walk-in cooler at the Carroll softball complex; during COVID Rotarians also helped paint the concession stand/crows’ nest; presenting a plaque to the Rotary Club on behalf of the Carroll Softball Association for the money and time donated for improvements. The plaque will be hung at the softball fields.
Club business:
- Merchants sent a thank you to our club for the donation of funds to improve the park.
Speaker: Dave and Lisa Cook – 2024-2025 District 6000 Governor
- 1st Rotary Club was started in 1905 by Paul Harris
- By 1925 there were 50 Rotary Clubs in Iowa.
- Rotary was instrumental in establishing United Nations following WWI
District goals:
- Grow members
- Reduce 5-year average of new members lost
- Help start 4 new club extensions
- Generate new service project ideas based on interest of club members
- Inspire greater giving to our foundation
*Find a project that people are inspired to be a part of.
Idea that Denison did: Everyone bring one – club members draw a date out of hat and that is the date that they must bring a guest.
Next meeting is on Monday, July 29th and will be a board meeting/going away party for Trevor.
