Carroll Rotary Club Meeting Minutes 7/11/22
Attendees: Catti, Bob F., Phil, Chris, Aaron, Hubert, Joel, Lynn, Ann, Trevor, Dave, John G., Travis Dvorak
 
Brag Bucks:
  1. Lynn – grandson Jay starting dental practice on 7/11 and expecting child very soon
  2. Dave – 2nd Paul Harris pin received
New business:
  1. Tour of new jail – Catti to set up
    1. Message has been left for Sherriff’s office to schedule
Speaker:
  • Steve and Brenda Wieneke – District 6000 Governor
    • 3 years of training to prepare for Governor, 1 year as Governor, 3 years post Governor on board
    • Live in Ankeny
    • Steve was in the National Guard for 33 years and a teacher
  • 2022-2023 RI Theme: Imagine Rotary
  • RI Goals:
    • Increase our impact
    • Expand our reach
    • Enhance participant engagement
    • Increase our ability to adapt
  • Celebrate Community
    • September 10-17th
    • Steve wants us to partner with a local service group (Lions Club, Kiawanis Club, etc.) and do an activity.
  • Membership engagement:
    • “Get your ask on”
    • Make new members feel valued
    • What are we passionate about?
    • We need more energy to attract new members.
    • Fill our age gap
    • Who are we excluding by having set meetings?
      • Maybe offer a satellite meeting option so that those interested in joining but cannot make noon meetings can still be included.
    • 1 social per month – make invites personal
  • Visioning:
    • We should be planning 3-5 years out
    • Need to have a recorder
    • Assign tasks that need to be completed
    • District has resources available to help with visioning
  • One Rotary Summit – 9/29/22
    • Zoom meeting
    • Good for all members
    • If you are interested, please let Adam, Catti or John know.
  • Polio Eradification:
    • Get members to donate $100/year to end polio
  • Signature projects for the year:
    • Children’s literacy
    • Food insecurity
    • Steve suggested partnering with another service group to do something to promote both.
  • Foundation Dinners:
    • 10/21/22 – Sheraton in WDM
    • 10/28/22 – Rendezvous in Muscatine
    • If interested in attending, please let Adam, Catti or John know.
  • District Conference:
    • Saturday, April 15th, 2023, at the Carrollton Inn from 5:30-8:30 PM
    • There will be silent auction items to bid on to help end Polio
    • Door prizes will be available
    • We will be contacted to assist in the planning.
  • International Conference:
    • May 27th-31st, 2023
    • Melbourne, Australia
 
Chris and Catti took Steve and Brenda around Carroll after the meeting and showed them the restrooms that we helped remodel in the mall, Sauk Trail, St. Anthony Cancer Center, and DMACC.
 
Next meeting is on Monday, July 18th.
