Bob F. – Beat Chris’s slow-pitch team last week; then got beat yesterday; celebrated birthday last week
Ben – Anniversary this week
Chris – Birthday last week
Adam – going on family vacation this week to Washington D.C.
Club Business:
Cub Scouts – Ben going to reach out to club leader to see if they need anything specific otherwise we can give them the $500 donation to keep funds local; they can help with trash clean up
Speaker:
Lucy Russell – National Pork Producers Council
Farm Bill 2.0 – passed out of House
Proposition 12 – passed out of House; sits in Senate
US/Canada/Mexico Agreement – review in July of 2026; Mexico is one of our top traders;
New world screwworm – 11 cases of screwworm in any warm-blooded animal; infection that is treated by antibiotics; transmitted by flies; funding went away with DOGE cuts
Governor’s race in Iowa is going to come down to water quality
Consumers are feeling pinch at register; beef prices are very high right now; pork prices are low; Walmart is offering combo packs at discount prices; pork is a complete protein; need more definitions on what true good/nutritious foods are
National Pork Producers Council – focus on policy and regulations; getting $0.15 per every $100 per carcass weight; partner with state organizations and the rest of the barnyard (Beef, Soy, Corn, etc)
