Aaron J. – visited commissioning of USS Iowa over the weekend in CT; learned a lot about how they operate
 
Club updates: 
Scholarships – we have received Kuemper’s; Adam picked up Carroll High’s today

Allen (CEO) and Sarah (VP of Patient Services) – St. Anthony’s 
     -    Construction: 
             o    OB and Dialysis has been updated and completed. 
                          OB averages 30 deliveries per month; May is set to delivery 52 
                          OB has partnered with Crawford County to take on OB services
                          Offering a lot of pre/post OB classes and support groups
                          Radiation construction – adding 10 procedure rooms
             o    ER construction – moved a lot of staff to St. Anthony office building (American Home Shield building)
                      •    8000 visits annually (30 pt/day)
                      •    Treatments being done in the hallways
                      •    Helipad location – SW side of hospital; away from the hospital  
                      •    Pt safety with nurses’ station
                      •    Moving pharmacy to 3rd floor – pending board approval
                      •    PET CT (early cancer screening) adding onsite instead of once per week; this would also serve as a backup CT scanner for when the primary CT scanner is down 
                      •    Parking issues: add a parking deck (adds 190 additional parking spaces) to the South side of the hospital
                           No formal dollar amounts yet; plan to take to board of directors in June
             o    VA Clinic just signed 30-year contract
             o    Critical access operating for 1 year now; can only have 25 inpatients at one-time
             o    Staffing: 
                      •    Recruitment and retention – nationwide problem; nurse residency program and partnership with University of Iowa
                      •    Physician: Dr. Dirkx (ortho), Dr. Sibenaller (internal med), psych (part-time); openings: family med, radiation/oncology, OBGYN
             o    Childcare: still in the infant stages of planning
