Carroll Rotary Club Meeting Minutes from 3/21/22
 
Meeting called to order at 12:08 PM by Adam at Family Table Restaurant
 
Attendees: Catti, Bob F., Phil, Hubert, Ron, Bob W., Doc Martin, John, Kim, Adam, Mike, Deb, Ann, Rich
 
Brag Bucks:
  1. Bob F. – IA State men/women both going on in the NCAA basketball tournament, unlike the Hawks 😊
  2. Bob F. – Knights of Columbus bowling tournament this last weekend and Bob’s team won.
100th Celebration:
  1. Invites were sent out last week.
  2. Please RSVP to Catti if you plan to attend and if you will be bringing a guest.
Speakers:
  1. Gene Meiners and Stephanie Hausman with Carroll County Supervisors
  2. New jail is open
    1. Staff is safe
    2. Space is functional
    3. Tours available by contacting the Sherriff
      1. We will figure out a date at our next meeting and I can set this up for us.
  3. Levy figures:
    1. Rural = down 7.34
    2. Urban =  down 4.30
  4. Director of Carroll County Ambulance Service is Jamie Wuebker
    1. Contract signed with Crawford County to transport citizens from Westside
      1. Carroll is closer than Denison to respond
      2. Most citizens want to be taken to St. Anthony Regional Hospital anyway.
      3. Paramedics are needed.
  5. Secondary Roads
    1. Repairing road up by Lanesboro
    2. Repairing bridge NE of Templeton
    3. Contracted 6 tons of gravel
  6. ARPA Funds
    1. $3.9 million received
      1. First ½ received already
      2. Second ½ will be received in June/July
      3. Funds must be committed by 2024
      4. Funds must be spent by 2025
    2. Replacing HVAC and boiling unit in courthouse
      1. Original units are currently being used
      2. Will be replaced in zones
    3. Moving office spaces around
    4. Upgrading the record keeping process
      1. Going digital
      2. Will go all the way back as far as books are kept
      3. Original records will remain on-site
    5. Sauk Trail grant was part of these funds
      1. Phil suggested posting mile markers along the trail so that people know where they are in the event of an emergency.
    6. Opiate Prevention program is being built
      1. Some of these funds are coming from lawsuits against drug companies as well.
No meeting on 3/28/22 – social on 3/31/22 at Piranha Club at 5PM, bring your spouse/significant other.
