2/21/22 Carroll Rotary Minutes

  2. BP is offering specials for 2’s day
    1. Specials every 2 hours
Speaker: Joel Lundstrum – Provost of DMACC Carroll Campus
  1. Meeting was located at DMACC’s Carroll Campus so that we could see the new addition
  2. New addition is 10,700 sq. ft
    1. Rented facility prior to this new addition for approximately 12 years
    2. Offers welding and auto classes
  3. Projects that are in the works:
    1. Local college access grant
    2. Vaccine grant to promote vaccination
    3. CAIF grant for 1 million dollars just received
      1. Going to utilize the “white elephant building” in Templeton
      2. 4 primary schools will benefit from this project
        1. Audubon
        2. Exira, Elk-Horn Kimballton
        3. IKM Manning
        4. Coon Rapids-Bayard
      3. Competition with local community colleges is minimal at this point.
      4. Curriculum to be offered:
        1. Electricity
        2. Welding
        3. Construction
        4. Motor Control
        5. Healthcare – CNA training and simulation
      5. 1st year students will see all areas except healthcare
      6. 2nd year students will be able to focus on the area of their interest.
      7. Business relationships formed for this project:
        1. Manning Regional Healthcare Center
        2. Templeton Rye
        3. Puck
        4. New Opportunities
        5. Ten Point Construction
    4. Career Discovery Days
      1. Usually, high school sophomores
      2. Get exposure to different careers
      3. Tour local businesses as well
