  • Rich: daughter-in-law celebrated birthday on 11/2, wife had birthday 11/5 and son has a birthday today
  • Ron: will celebrate his 81st birthday on 11/8/23.
  • Bob F.: Packers won 11/5/23.
  • Adam: vacation to Cabo with Jill on 11/12/23
Business:
  1. Auction:

    2. all items have been added so far, just received 2 more today that will be loaded tonight.
    3. promote our auction to get traffic to the website.
    4. We will be live on the radio on 11/11/23 from 11a-12p.
      1. Adam and Chris will speak on radio.
      2. Catti, John, Hubert, Bob F. will be in the radio office taking calls.
      3. We will meet at 9:30 AM on 11/11/23 at MC’s Café for breakfast.

    1. Presented to Rich for donating $2000.00 over the years as a Rotarian.

    2. Please plan to attend if you are able. We would like to have a good Rotarian showing.
Speaker:
Joellen with Caring Hearts of West Central Iowa
  1. Non-profit organization that serves individuals with disabilities.
    1. 24-hour assistance is available to help with daily activities.
    2. Have residents that live with host families (live and are a part of the family that they live with).
    3. Serve counties of Carroll, Greene, Guthrie, Cass, Crawford, Sac and Polk at this time.
    4. 35 employees with an additional 80 contract providers
  2. Services that are provided:
    1. Support community living-goal driven outcomes based on a needs assessment that is completed annually.
    2. Respite-break for caregivers.
    3. Consumer-Directed Attendant Care (CDAC) tasks done for an individual: clean for them, shop for them, daily hygiene tasks, taking them to appointments, etc.
    4. Habilitation – goal driven outcomes for individuals with mental health diagnosis.
  3. Outreach projects:
    1. Provide grocery, gas, phone gift cards, help with utility bills, and provide hygiene products.
    2. Backpack Drive – host school supply drive to fill backpacks to give to those students that are in need.
    3. Crisis apartment – fully furnished apartment that can be used for a few days to stay for those that are in crisis.
      1. Work with Center Against Abuse and Sexual Assault to provide a safe home until permanent placement can be obtained.
      2. Work with those who need a place to stay until they can get into drug/alcohol rehabilitation so that they stay clean.
      3. Have helped those in need that are traveling through Carroll.
    4. Partner with Central Church to offer a Christmas Tree wish list.
  4. Source of funding: Medicaid, fundraising and donations
  5. Located in the Carroll Times building.
 
Next meeting is on Monday, November 13th at 12PM at The Hub. We will be recapping the success of our auction.
