Announcements:
- We received a thank you from the Rotary Club of Ames for partnering with them on their Global Water Project
- Adam is working on Fireman’s Dinner date
Speakers: St. Anthony Hospice – Lane Pudenz, RN and Whitney Hinners, Volunteer Coordinator
- Located in the old American Home Shield building
- operate in a 30-mile radius from Carroll
- total staff: 5 RN’s, 3 CNA’s, 2 social workers, 1 music therapist, 13 volunteers, 2 spiritual care representatives
- volunteers are always needed if anyone is interested, training is provided
- Medicare and private insurance cover hospice care
- Hospice offers the best of life at the end of life by keeping patients comfortable.
- Goal is to keep patient in home as long as possible.
- nobody dies alone: have volunteers that will sit with patients if there are no family/friends
- can bring patient to local hospitals to be inpatient if it is needed
- Doctors determine when a patient goes to hospice.
- RN’s go through medications and help determine what medications are truly necessary for patients to be on when they transition to hospice care.
- Bereavement Support group meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 5-6 PM at St. Anthony’s and is available to everyone.
- Donations are always accepted and needed and are used for things like personal hygiene supplies, equipment, supplies for fundraisers and volunteer of the year, etc.
Fundraisers:
- Tree of Love: ornaments are placed on tree in atrium of St. Anthony
- Ornaments may be ordered by anyone in memory of loved ones that are living or deceased

- Softball Tournament
- Rotary is always a donor for this tournament.
- Mixed couple tournament in August at the Carroll softball fields.
Long-term goal: open a hospice house in Carroll that provides 24/7 care
Next meeting is Monday, October 14th from 12-1 PM at The Hub – no speaker currently
