IN MEMORIAM
Bill Barnes passed away on March 2, 2021 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital after a fall. He fractured his hip and developed complications.

Bill was very active in the community. On February 6, 2020 we celebrated Bill’s 100th birthday.

Bill was a founding member and the first President of our club in 1978. Bill was a Rotarian for 43 years. He impacted many people in positive ways. There are many treasured memories of Bill within the club.

He will be missed but never forgotten.

FUNDRAISING
New Fundraising opportunities

COVID -19 is thwarting our fundraising efforts and we are attempting to supplement our current fundraising projects with new ones, e.g., the remarkably successful bottle drive. Having a few smaller fundraisers throughout the year helps to spread the risk and provide some upside in the good times; a series of smaller fundraisers might be less work to organize than one big event.

Please read on to see all that we are doing to raise the monies that we love to give away.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE WITH MENTAL HEALTH

How an Ontario REALTOR® brought her community together to shine a light on mental health.

For Emmanuelle Meyer, REALTOR® with Royal LePage Signature Realty Plus in Oakville, communities thrive when their people thrive. Your community should be there to support you when you need it most.

When Emmanuelle noticed the mental health effects that COVID-19 was having on people in her community, she knew she needed to do something. She enlisted those in her network to develop an initiative that raises money for mental health services, while also raising awareness about the increased mental health struggles facing those in her community, especially those in younger generations. In two short weeks, she launched Camaraderie For Hope.

This is Emmanuelle’s Real Heart story.

We are an active group of volunteers; we raise money so that we can give it all away, and we have a lot of fun doing it!

At the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar, we are a diverse group of people of varying ages and from all walks of life—professionals, entrepreneurs, retirees, parents, and grandparents—and united in our commitment to the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self. We share a common purpose: to make a difference in our community and to create lasting positive change here at home and around the world.
Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.

You are invited to visit us at an upcoming meeting. Currently we are meeting via ZOOM on Thursdays at 12 noon. You can receive the meeting invitation my emailing info@rcot.ca
