Announcements:
  • President Bryant – Next week Matt Gatzke will have the program, and Michelle Fortin will fill in for Paul Rizzi as the greeter.
  • Skip Poole – Recognition night is June 14th.  Nine forms are in, but they would love a few more before their Tuesday committee meeting. Please see an email from Bryant with the form.
  • Rick Minard – Readers will be at Bow elementary this morning, and Dunbarton next week. Thank you to those who volunteered!
  • Dave Gazaway – We had record numbers at this year’s car show. 210 registered cars, 37 more than our previous record. We had around 420 paying spectators, plus many more free spectators either 70+ or 12 and under. Our first estimate of revenue puts us close to $13,400 raised for the event.  Great work Dave, Gerry, and everyone else who played a role in making it a successful day!
  • Dave Stack – The town’s Memorial Day celebration will get started around 3:00/3:15 on Monday.  At 4:30 a great band (with Peter Imse on Sax) will play. The Men’s club has donated $1,000 on improvements to the gazebo, which is in need of a little work.
  • President Bryant brought Bill Ames to the front to induct him into the club as a new member.  In honor of Memorial Day, Bryant read John Sheridan’s original script for inducting members, which has since gone through a few iterations. Bill is excited to lend his efforts to our club and our mission. Welcome Bill!
  • Karen W. - June is Bicentennial Month for the State House. There will be a lot of events, including Cultural Heritage Day on Wednesday June 5th.

Happy Bucks:    
  • Dave Stack – Dave had a great time playing “name-that-tune” with Chris Parkinson while working on the parking crew for the Car Show.  He was also impressed by the Interactor who did a great job parking while not looking at his phone once!
  • Peter Imse – Although we were all impressed by and thankful for the efforts of the Interactors and Early Actors, Peter flipped it and thanked the club for being welcoming to them and for modeling the behavior that we hope to see in them as they become future engaged members of their own communities.
  • Tamar Roberts – Thank you to the club for letting her skip out of the Car Show early so she could make the 9 hour drive up to New Brunswick for a 9k. She was glad to get in over 10,000 steps working parking detail before sitting in the car for the remainder of the day.
  • Karen Wadsworth – Saw the Concord Chorale perform last week and was very impressed by their performance.  Great job, Rick!
  • Sandy Eldredge – Sandy recently celebrated her 35th wedding anniversary, and was able to spend 4 days with family in Charleston, SC.
  • Rick Minard – Gave a happy buck for Karen’s recognition of the Concord Chorale.
  • Dave Gazaway – The interactors were great, particularly the ones at the entrance of the driveway.
  • Chris Parkinson – Enjoyed being under the command of Bob Dawkins and Mike Griffin working on the parking crew.
  • Gerry Carrier – Market Days is still looking for a number of volunteers if anyone would like to get involved. The dates are June 20-22.
Raffle Winner:  Dean Cascadden won the raffle, but couldn’t find the joker.  
 
Program:
Today was Club Assembly                
Club Service (Michelle Fortin) – The Visioning Committee will be meeting with the Board in June in order to prep for next year’s update to our 5-year visioning effort.
 
International Service (Matt Dodge) – Dick Swett is working on a potential project that would bring clean water to Sudan.  There is a lot happening politically and there is still work to be done before we get involved, but we expect to be moving forward with a potential project in the near future.
 
New Generations (Jeannie Richards) – We have seen a large increase in the number of scholarship applications this year (my apologies for not getting the exact number).
 
Community Service (Gerry Carrier) – The car show was a great success and they are working on closing the books for 2019. The concert series will be up and running soon, with help from Jeff Kipperman securing sponsorships.
