Program:
Dan Golf serves on the board of director’s for David’s House and spoke about the importance of having a safe haven for families who have a child with cancer. Having lost one child to cancer he went looking for a cause to fill his need to help others. He filled those needs by helping at David’s House. David’s House, which is located on the grounds of Dartmouth Hospital, was started by the family of David Cyr. The family found a need to be able to live for extended periods of time close by their child as they go through cancer treatments. Patients from 42 states and 25 foreign countries have passed though over the years. The Building had sixteen bedrooms with 10 bathrooms. In 2011 a fund raising drive took place with a goal of raising four million dollars and as a result eight more bedrooms were added. Families can stay there free of charge. The house does ask for a donation of $20 per night if the family can afford it.
