Today’s Greeter: Michelle Fortin welcomed members and guests to Bow Rotary.
Attendance: No guests, 1 speaker, 1 visiting Rotarian and 28 Bow Rotarians, for a total of 30.
Announcements:
- Summer Concerts: Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. Michelle is the m.c. July 23d, and Donna Deos filled in on July 17th.
- Scholarship Auction: Letters to donors will be mailed next week.
- Speaker needed for August 4th.
- Rotary Golf Tournament: John Ruggles announced the date is August 18th at Bretwood (North) Golf Course in Keene. Two Bow teams expected. Support “Pure Water for Haiti” even if you don’t play.
- Mike Griffin made a plug for the Henniker chili-fest.
- President Judy read a thank-you for a Club contribution to support a NY trip.

- Birthday: Skip Poole’s birthday was July 8th. Skip started his own business in the past year and his business, music and family are all doing well.
- Happy Bucks:
- President Judy for the Army band concert at the gazebo;
- Matt Dodge for his friend’s wedding, at which Matt will be officiating as an ordained minister;
- Rick Minard for his vacation in Maine, including tornados that were avoided; and for his new job;
- Jon Ruggles for his 46 years of marriage and his wife’s continuing recovery.
- Fred Lamontagne for the new pickle ball courts at Heritage Heights;
- Dave Scanlan for his business trip, which afforded a trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and a visit to his daughter in Minneapolis;
- Dick Bean tried to hand in his Rotary handbook, which was rejected by Sargent Gerry (I hope Dick didn’t have to pay a dollar?)
- Bill McGonagle for his first turned funnel on his lathe….a bowl taken just a bit too deep.
Lottery: Our speaker, Holly Hale, pulled the winning ticket, which was Karen Wadsworth’s…but alas no Joker…
Program:
Mike Griffin then introduced Holly Hale, the Executive Director of Good Life, a non-profit senior center located on North State Street in Concord. Holly explained the programs that were available, the hours (8-6 on weekdays) and the fee structure for programs. There is no fee for simple membership. Good Life is a successor to the Centennial. Its programs are strictly social model: conversation, games, exercise, yoga, arts and education. They partner with CRVNA and publish a quarterly newsletter that is circulated with the Concord Monitor. Good Life also undertakes various initiatives, including a Giving Tree, Food Bank and Volunteer Fair. They will be hosting a Crafts Fair at the end of September.
President Judy then closed with a “Toast to Rotary the World Over”.
