We were greeted by Karen Wadsworth and then re-greeted by our real greeter Judy Goodnow….who confessed to having had a Nyquil moment.  Haven’t we all….
 
There were a fair number of Rotarians in attendance as well as a sprinkling of guests.  (Judy may have used actual numbers.)
 
It was announced that Nathan Sanel (a recent speaker and Founder of National Powersports) will be joining our Club, and President Mike made the first or two required announcements.
 
President Mike also read a thank-you letter from the Baker Free Library recognizing a $3,000+ plus donation from our Club that had been raised during a Fund-A-Need at this year’s successful Auction event.
 
Bryant provided an update with respect to Xmas tree sales, which have gotten off to a very strong start.
 
Chuck announced that this year's Winterfest will be held on January 31st so mark your calendars.
 
Our Sargeant-At-Arms Bryant collected several fines from Paul Rizzi, which included just about the full range of offenses (photos, logos and lateness).
 
Happy Dollars included:
  • Paul Rizzi (yes, he was still happy) for selling trees with his son Nick and Bill McGonagle.
  • Sandy Eldredge and Tom Ives, who reported that they are going to become in-laws upon the marriage of their respective only daughter and older son.
  • Harry Judd for a successful Boy Scout food drive, with the oldest food having a sell-by date of 1996.
  • Karen Wadsworth for her two weeks with family in Arizona.
  • Rick Minard for the upcoming Concord Chorale concert.
  • Dean Cascadden – for the BHS play “Oklahoma”.
  • Gerry Carrier – for Friday’s Midnight Merriment.
  • Dave Gazaway – for our friend John Lyford who is still driving, mowing his own lawn, etc.
  • Bill McGonagle – For getting to know Paul & Nick while selling trees with them.
 
After repeated drawing attempts, Tamar finally had the winning ticket, but failed to draw the Joker.
 
Chris Parkinson then introduced our speaker,  Andrew Remington.   Andrew spent a Rotary Exchange Student school year in France (150 miles southwest of Paris) last year.  There followed an excellent presentation with slides showing where he stayed, his host families and friends, and various sites around France and in Amsterdam.  

President Mike then presented a book in Andrew’s name to the Baker Free Library and closed with “a toast to Rotary the world over.”
