President Peter Dialani's Message
Posted by Rtn.Peter Dialani
"Dear Fellow Rotarians and distinguished guests,
I welcome you all as President of Rotary club of St. Martin Sunrise for the term 2009-2010. It is a great feeling and an opportunity for me to work along with group of energetic business men and women who are determined to serve our community.
The theme of this rotary year is "The future of Rotary is in our hands" and as we stand here in these difficult financial crises affecting all sectors, it is our responsibility as Rotarians to come together even more than before and continue to carry the good work of Rotary. As an organization of business and professional people, Rotary provides humanitarian services to both communities, local and international. We promote high ethical standards in all vocations and seek to build peace through understanding among the diverse people of the world. I am happy to say that we, members of Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise, take pride in doing so.
Rotary follows one simple rule: "Service above self". These words set the foundation of this international organization. We as members of the Sunrise Rotary Club have been able to complete various projects such as vocational seminars, bread for foster kids, fixing of the Emilio Wilson Park, Belvedere Playground Project, Family Breakfast Morning, reading books to the elderly. We will continue to do projects. For instance all the funds raised from the auction items and the donation boxes tonight will be donated towards the purchase of a "warm bed" for the pediatric ward of St.Maarten Medical center.
A wise author once wrote, "Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something." This statement combined with this rotary year's theme displays the idea that if everyone shall come together as one unit they are able to complete any goal which they choose to reach. Together with my fellow Rotarians, I hope, as president, to continue the success that my predecessors have had and to follow the one simple rule of service above self. With every new project and goals set for the upcoming year, I trust that we will uphold the Rotary 4 â€" ways test.
Of the things we think, say or do:
i) Is it the truth
ii) Is it fair to all concerned
iii) Will it build goodwill and better friendship
iv) Will it be beneficial to all concerned
